Well the absurdity of how much I spend on food each week finally dawned on me! Not the kind of dawn you brush off as soon as you see an ad for TGI Fridays that reminds you of how much you love their Jack Daniel burgers....the kind that makes you accept that you need to get off your lazy behind and go buy some real groceries.
*In case anyone is interested, TGIF has a special on all Jack Daniel items....RIBS GALORE :D:D:D* Wait! What am I saying?!! Carnival and 31 are fast approaching and I have goals. What I meant to say was: STAY AWAY FROM JUNK!!!...............but on your cheat day, remember that TGIF has a special on all JD items ;)
So yes! Armed with my new found resolve to get back on track with my cooking and healthier eating habits, I went to Tru Valu on Saturday and bought some groceries.......*A STANDING OVATION?!!? FOR ME?? YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE!*
The last time I can recall cooking was around Christmas. That isn't to say I haven't cooked since Christmas. It's just that cooking for an entire 2 days can be VERY traumatic the first time one does it. So that memory is seared into my brain.......NEVER AGAIN! I don't know how people do that every year, but I reaaaaaal good. Straight Crix for my guests come December 25th, 2010!
I'm actually a very good cook and I do love cooking. The thing is I'm better at my other hobby....which is basically being too lazy to cook on a regular basis lol. I surprised myself today though. Maybe it was the months since tasting something I cooked myself, but the meal was more delicious than I remember my food being.
So there it is. My attempt at fresh steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes and sautéed shrimps. Too bad I only made enough for lunch....Looking at these photos is making me hungry again....
